Is the small business arena dead in the UK?
Over the last few months we have seen a gradual reduction in the amount of finance made available to the UK small business arena which is causing many problems for many business people. A number of people are now asking the question as to whether the UK business arena is now dead and entrepreneurs are now looking elsewhere?
There is no doubt that a mixture of reduced capital available in the money markets for small businesses as well as tax increases and regulatory burdens built up over the last decade are not "business friendly". More and more established businesses are also looking to relocate their headquarters overseas and many entrepreneurs are now bypassing the UK, even if they are UK based, instead choosing to look overseas for available finance.
While there is very little the UK government can do at the moment to support the UK small business arena, the same cannot be said for the UK banking sector. The small businesses of today are potentially the larger businesses of tomorrow and while the UK banking sector does need to be careful, many believe this has been taken too far.
