Is it ever too soon to sort out your pension?
A report this week has confirmed that the UK pensions industry is in turmoil with more than 66% of the UK population concerned about their pension fund arrangements and their retirement years. As a consequence many people are asking themselves - Is it ever too soon to sort out your pension?
The truth is that as soon as you are old enough to work and have significant income available on a regular basis you should look to take professional advice regarding potential pension fund arrangements. Whether indeed your savings in the early years may be better served on the property ladder or perhaps paying off earlier debts remains to be seen but you do need to take professional advice sooner rather than later and ensure that as soon as possible you have pension fund arrangements in place.
For those starting work in their late teens looking ahead perhaps 40 or 50 years may seem like an eternity but in reality any early investment in your pension arrangements can prove very lucrative and very rewarding upon retirement. Those who assume that the state pension will be available to cover their everyday needs in retirement may have to think again as the UK pension has been under threat for some time and indeed until recently had been falling in real terms.
