What is lying down the back of your sofa?
A report today suggests that Brits are leaving around £40 million a year down the back of their sofas with the average household affected to the tune of just under £2. However, the back of your sofa is not the only place where you may find hidden treasure with pockets topping the list at 39%, loose change at the bottom of a bag at 36%, money left in the car at 27% and coins down the back of your sofa at 23%.
The survey also claims that 66% of those questioned in the UK would pick up a penny from the street for "good luck" with those in Wales more likely to pick it up and those in London less likely. While this particular survey, carried out on behalf of Halifax Savings, is something of a tongue-in-cheek look at the savings habits of the UK public, it does highlight the case for keeping track of your "loose change".
At a time when many families in the UK are struggling to make ends meet we all need to maintain strict budgets and ensure that as little money as possible is "wasted". However, this is easier said than done as the cost of living in the UK continues to creep higher and more and more people are pushed towards economic poverty.
