Government to hit IT banking bonuses
The UK government has today warned IT staff working in the UK banking sector that they will also come under the controversial banking bonus tax if they receive bonuses of over £25,000. It appears that slowly but surely the UK government is widening the net with regards to the controversial tax which had appeared to be fairly and squarely targeted at UK financial highfliers.
As with any government in the past, it would appear that the devil is in the detail and with more and more of the bonus banking tax small print being released into the public domain the situation is becoming clearer. While there is no reason why IT staff working in the banking industry should be exempted from the banking bonus tax, this was never mentioned when the UK government floated the idea and has never been mentioned by any of the UK government bodies.

Trying to find a balance between traditional Labour supporters and "middle England" support is something which Gordon Brown and his fellow party members appear to be struggling with.
