Cuts, cuts and more cuts!

With only hours to go before the result of the UK election is confirmed fears are growing over the depth of cuts which will be required to rein in the UK budget deficit. Political experts have been voicing their opinions in the media this morning with each and every political party yet to confirm their overall plans to cut public sector services.

If we see a hung parliament there will be an interesting debate between the various political parties with the Labour Party unwilling to indulge in large public-sector spending cuts, the Liberal Democrats apparently more selective on their cuts and the Conservative party rumoured to have the most savage reductions in the pipeline. Against this very different landscape for each political party it seems difficult to find an awful lot of common ground to form a workable coalition government.

Yet again many political experts are also suggesting that the next parliamentary tenure could well be something of a poisoned chalice with so many unpopular decisions to be made by the party, or parties, in question - something which could make them unelectable for a decade. The confusion, concern and fear regarding the UK economy and the UK political scene should become a little clearer over the next 12 hours.
