Will the UK budget affect everybody?
There is speculation and counter speculation regarding the UK budget, potential tax increases and potential cutbacks in public sector spending. However, one thing is for certain, each and every person and each and every business in the UK will feel the pain, although to a differing extent, due in the main to massive public sector spending cuts.
The government is looking to introduce a number of changes to reduce the impact on low-income families, who would otherwise be forced into relying on more benefits, although there is limited scope as to how far George Osborne can go. There is no way that the UK government can keep every area of the UK population and every area of the UK business arena happy although by spreading the pain across the board, and specifically attacking the rich, the government may well be able to deflect some of the potential criticisms which will ultimately come its way.
Despite the fact that opposition parties will be highly critical of the budget, no matter what George Osborne announces, the fact is that while the credit crunch did play a major role in increasing the UK budget deficit, Gordon Brown does need to take his fair share of the blame. However, UK voters have very short memories!

Despite the fact that the UK government claims the reduction in VAT from 17.5% to 15% has injected a further 1% of gross domestic product back into the system, a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers suggests that the move has been both costly and a complete waste of time.
