Labour Party joins graduate fee discussion

Ed Miliband has today joined the discussion regarding graduate fees and offered disillusioned members of the Liberal Democrat party a way to express their anger. It is expected that Lord Browne's report into the further education system in the UK will recommend changes to the fee structure which could see some university fees increasing to around £12,000 per annum. So what is Ed Miliband suggesting?

Ed Miliband is looking for a more progressive fee structure for universities in the UK as he believes that an increase the size of which the Lord Browne report is likely to recommend would effectively put further education out of the reach of "ordinary people". While there is certainly some concern regarding those on lower incomes having access to university education in the future the government seems determined to tackle this issue. There will be sizeable subsidies for those who cannot afford the potentially larger fees of the future although how this will pan out remains to be seen.

Further education in the UK does need to be revamped because ultimately it seems as though the cost of delivering further education has far out stretched the funding currently available. Is there really an all singing all dancing answer to this problem?
