Who will be next to undermine Gordon Brown?
Only a few days ago we saw senior members of the Labour Party step forward in a direct attack on Gordon Brown's leadership with a request for a secret ballot. Yesterday, we saw Mervyn King step forward to place Gordon Brown's hopes for the introduction of "Tobin tax" at the bottom of the list of options for the UK financial sector. So who will be next to undermine Gordon Brown?
There is no doubt that slowly but surely Gordon Brown's leadership of the Labour Party and his control of the UK government is being chipped away. Over the last few months he has been ridiculed by EU colleagues, the target of a number of leadership challenges and now even Mervyn King has stated his preference to Pres Obama's banking tax as opposed to the Tobin tax. Those who had hoped for a period of restraint from Gordon Brown's enemies within will be sadly disappointed to learn that he is still public enemy number one with many people.
It will take a turnaround of monumental proportions to see Gordon Brown victorious at the next election but love him or hate him this is a man who has come back from the dead before and a man who has fought tooth and nail to claim the top office in the UK government. You write off Gordon Brown at your peril!
