Growing pains in the EU or deep-seated problems?
Over the last few weeks it has become apparent that the European Union is maybe not as harmonised as many people had believed with the French and German authorities seemingly leading the way while many others just follow. The debacle surrounding the Greek financial bailout, which is still yet to be completed, has highlighted deep-seated problems within the European Union and the fact that there are definite team leaders in Europe.
However, over time these leadership issues are certain to level out as smaller countries take more control and up their game within the Eurozone. One issue which is certain to grab the headlines in the weeks, months and years ahead is the Euro which has been struggling of late due in the main to the Greek bailout issue and other financial problems within the Eurozone. This has been the first major test of the EU with regards to the bailout and protection of Eurozone economies and while there have been difficulties on the whole it looks as though it will get there in the end.
The transition from Europe to the Eurozone and the adoption of the euro in many countries was never going to be straightforward and what we are seeing today could be described as "growing pains" for the European Union.
