Who is winning the hearts and minds of UK voters?
As we approach the first live televised debates amongst the leaders of the Labour Party, Conservative party and the Liberal Democrats it is interesting to see who has everything to gain and nothing to lose. At this moment in time there is no doubt that David Cameron is consolidating his position in the voting polls and many believe he will start to pull away over the next few weeks.
As a consequence, despite the fact that Gordon Brown, by his own admission, does not necessarily come across at his best on TV it seems that he has everything to gain and nothing to lose from the first of three televised leader debates. It will be interesting to see how the voting polls swing over the next few days and whether we move towards an American-style system where spin over substance seems to be prevalent.
At the end of the day it should come down to policies with regards to who takes office on 7 May but more and more we are seeing spin and substance transferred and headline grabbing policies often turning out to be very different in the cold light of day. David Cameron is ahead at halftime but there is still another half to go!
