Are UK voters deserting the Liberal Democrats?
As UK voters get ready for the general election on 6 May there are signs that the sudden surge in support for the Liberal Democratic Party is starting to fall by the wayside. There is no doubt that Nick Clegg has breathed a new lease of life into the UK political scene but upon further investigation many people are now becoming concerned about underlying policies.
For many years the Liberal Democrat manifesto has gone relatively unnoticed by many voters in the UK but over the last week there has been more focus upon the substance behind the spin of Nick Clegg. There is no doubt there are various innovative policies in the Liberal Democrat manifesto but it is the connection with Europe, through Nick Clegg's former employment within the European Parliament, and the potential scrapping all UK defence system which is concerning some voters.
However, despite the fact that some support for the Liberal Democrats does seem to be falling by the wayside, it is unlikely that the Liberal Democrats forecast share of the vote will fall to pre-TV debate levels. We appear to be moving head on towards a hung parliament and all of the potential problems that this may present.
