Could the ash cloud be back with a vengeance?

Only days after UK airspace was reopened following initial concerns regarding the volcanic ash plume, weather experts are concerned that we could be on the verge of volcanic ash lockdown part two. Experts have already identified two large plumes over the Outer Hebrides and there are concerns the wind patterns could bring these further down the UK and cause havoc with air travel in the short-term.

It is only now that we are seeing the full extent of the impact from the initial volcanic ash cloud with thousands of UK postal voters, predominantly overseas and in the Armed Forces, unlikely to be able to vote in this week's election. There are also literally thousands of UK travellers still stranded overseas as the rescue operation continues to roll on. Despite the fact that the volcanic ash cloud is off the front pages of the UK and worldwide media there is no doubt it is still having an impact on everyday life and everyday economic activity.

There are also major concerns regarding the health of many in the upper regions of Scotland who could inhale parts of these large ash clouds as they fall to earth.
