Is the coalition government in danger?

David Davis, one of the more prominent Conservative MPs, has certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons after being overheard criticising the coalition government and comparing it to a "Brokeback coalition". So is this the first sign of cracks in the coalition government?

There is no doubt that there are a significant number of MPs on both sides of the coalition government who are concerned about policies and the future. Both parties have been forced to give way on certain issues, some of which many believe are vital to the make-up of the individual parties, which has caused significant unrest, especially in the short term. However, while the coalition government is currently making headway with regards to budget cuts and UK finances many believe the real work still lies ahead.

Whether or not David Davis is speaking on behalf of other Conservative MPs, with his criticism of the coalition government, remains to be seen but there is no doubt that challenges still lie ahead for David Cameron. Unfortunately, if David Cameron and George Osborne are not able to bring together the warring factions from the Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties then there may be danger ahead.
