Is the UK government delivering on earlier promises?

Today's Financial Times has slaughtered Lord Mandelson and his "Building Britain's future - new industry, new jobs" project which is big on hype but small on detail. The article in today's Financial Times is a reflection of the ongoing situation regarding UK government promises and the lack of delivery. We saw this with the car manufacturing industry, which saw this with regards to savers and we have seen this with regards to jobs for UK citizens. So what next?

Spin over substance has been an accusation aimed at Gordon Brown and the previous Labour government with headline after headline suggesting funds are available only to be delayed, with many never materialising. It seems that the government is happy to hit the headlines, fail to deliver and then make new headlines a month later, hoping everything prior to that is forgotten. If we count back the number of promises made over the last 18 months and the number actually delivered there is a significant difference, which many of the UK population are now starting to appreciate.

Now is the time to deliver, now is the time to make good on past promises and now is the time to take the focus away from the UK banking sector and put the UK population first.
