Gordon Brown announces 100,000 new jobs in the public sector

If this headline looks familiar it is because this is a rehash of an announcement made weeks ago regarding the rescheduling of many public sector projects including the building of schools, housing and various environmental programs. Gordon Brown has finally put some meat on the bone of this idea with today's confirmation of the program which is expected to require billions of pounds of UK taxpayers funding to make it happen.

Gordon Brown is set to embark on a national tour to the various UK employment blackspots using public meetings to get his points across. While initially the announcement some weeks ago of an extra 100,000 jobs was well received there is scepticism after the rehashed project was announced today with various "bells and whistles". However, when you consider an extra 100,000 jobs aside the 3 million who are expected to be unemployed within the next 12 months this move hardly scratches the surface.

While Gordon Brown could not be accused of sitting on his hands the problem is that his various investment strategies have as yet failed to bring about any noticeable return to the UK population. Billions and billions of pounds of taxpayer's money would appear to have been spent over the last few months and made very little impact upon the UK economy.
