Counterfeit products on the increase
As the UK and the worldwide economy lurches further towards a severe and deep recession there has been an increase in the number of counterfeit goods which have found their way into the mass market. The latest goods to be recalled are a number of fake Colgate toothpaste tubes which were sold between 28 November and 5 December. It is not known how these fake products found their way into the market but there are literally thousands in the UK which may contain a toxic ingredient.
While shops have been quick to recall the products and contact customers who may have come into contact with the goods, this is only the tip of the iceberg as counterfeit products continue to grow in numbers. There has also been a significant increase in the number of frauds and attempted scams over the last few months as the recession prompts consumers and the general public to consider cost saving measures in great detail.
This latest goods recall will surely knock consumer confidence yet again at a time when the recession has sent conference to an all-time low already.
