Home insurance warning for cold snap
Home insurance policies will need to be checked over the coming few weeks, it has been claimed, as cold weather is on the way.Home insurer More Than has warned that properties could be at risk of damage as weather forecasters are predicting a sharp deterioration in the weather, with temperatures plummeting.Taking precautions such as checking lagging is in place on pipes and keeping the heating on a low temperature at all times are some of the best ways to reduce the risk of pipes freezing and then bursting during the cold spell. However, More Than points out that not even this can guarantee a property will not be damaged by the bad weather and as a result having good quality home insurance is vital to ensure homeowners can cover the cost of damage caused by the cold weather.Home insurance is particularly important at this time of year as research has shown in the past that more burglaries occur during the winter months, as thieves use the cover of dark evenings to break into homes.
