Is it time to look at recycling to save money?
While the UK government has for some time been trying to force many of the UK population to recycle, reuse and reduce their waste there has been limited success in some areas of the country. However, the ongoing recession has placed significant pressure upon many household budgets and seen more of the UK population look towards recycling and reusing materials as well as reducing their waste. There are many ways to save money and the cumulative impact of a significant push in this area could result in significant savings.
While many of the UK population already recycle a significant amount of their waste via recycling bins and council refuse collections, items such as energy-saving bulbs use only 20% of the energy of more traditional bulbs and offer significant cost savings in the long run. We have also seen a number of low-income families across the UK benefit from clothing and toy donations to various charities which are then passed on to the growing band of poverty stricken families.
There are few things which cannot be recycled or reused although sometimes it may take a little bit of creative thinking to arrive at a way to reuse some items. However, it is worth remembering that the UK government looks likely to introduce fines in due course to those who do not recycle their waste so why not start now?
