Vigilante groups claim recent banking attack is just the start

Concerns for the safety of many of the U.K.'s leading bankers have increased with news that a number of vigilante groups have stepped forward to suggest that the attack on Sir Fred Goodwin's home yesterday is only "the beginning". Serious questions are now being asked about the role played by various UK government ministers in stirring up substantial hatred and passions against the banking sector. Sir Fred Goodwin himself has been made something of a devil figure in the UK having refused to give up any of his alleged £17 million pension fund.

The attack on Sir Fred Goodwin's home, even though his family were not present at the time, has shaken the UK banking industry and prompted Gordon Brown to confirm that while he is still looking at clawing back a substantial part of Sir Fred Goodwin's pension pot, he does not condone the violence against his property in any way. Whether we will see the UK authorities step back from their concerted campaign of pressure against leading figures in the sector remains to be seen but unfortunately the police and legal authorities expect further repercussions in the short to medium term. Is this really the way to express the concerns of the public?
