Gordon Brown refuses to step down
In an interview on the BBC Andrew Marr show, Gordon Brown was asked whether he would contemplate standing down as leader of the Labour Party if his party members so wish. In an astonishing swipe at the electorate and Labour Party members Gordon Brown reiterated his stance that he is in the long run and would not even consider standing down if, as expected, the government is annihilated at the forthcoming Euro elections. So is Gordon Brown right to see it all the way through?
Even though it is obvious that Gordon Brown is stuck in something of a rut on a personal basis, and as the leader of the government, he has made significant promises and significant moves to try and assist the UK economy. Whether you are a fan of the Prime Minister, or think it is time for change, many people still regard him as one of the best Chancellors of the Exchequer in recent times. While he himself will admit he has made mistakes Gordon Brown was a Prime Minister in waiting many years until Tony Blair decided to step down.
Whether he is correct to potentially go against the feelings and thoughts of the Labour Party and Labour supporters is a totally different matter.
