EU ministers announce similar package to Gordon Brown
As Gordon Brown's profile overseas continues to rise it has been announced that both the US and the EU are to implement similar packages to that announced by Alistair Darling yesterday. This is yet another feather in the cap of Gordon Brown who has seen his profile expand overseas while stall somewhat in the UK.
The debate in the House of Commons today regarding the pre-budget report and various changes included was rather controversial and volatile with the Conservative Party and the Labour Party at loggerheads. The Conservatives believe it is their duty to highlight issues and problems with the pre-budget package whereby the Labour Party believe that all political allies should act as one in order to resurrect the UK economy.
Who has won and who was lost remains to be seen but as this constant political squabbling continues more and more people in the UK are feeling the pressure as debt continues to rise. While both political parties have a point in their views many had hoped that they would be to work together for the good of the country and put politics aside for one moment. At the moment, this seems very very unlikely.
