Gordon Brown fights back
Gordon Brown was today in the firing line and under intense scrutiny from a host of committee chairman from the House of Commons. He was branded as "Crash Gordon" and not "Flash Gordon", he was criticised doing too little, he was criticised for doing too much but there is no doubt that Gordon Brown came out fighting today. Whether this will be enough to save his skin remains to be seen......
In many ways it was open season today against Gordon Brown with a number of MPs looking to make a name for themselves and attempt to crush the Prime Minister of the UK. Little-known MPs took the opportunity to ask some of the most awkward questions you could ever imagine, many of which had Gordon Brown grinding his teeth and biting back. If there is one thing about Gordon Brown which stood out today it is his utter belief that the UK economy will pull out of this downturn in due course, because of his various rescue and stimulus packages.
Whether this is actually the case remains to be seen and there is even speculation that Gordon Brown will not see the day when his potential rescue packages will make a difference. He was heckled, he was criticised but to give him his due he stood firm and repeated everything he has said in public over the last 12 months.
