People 'planning to shop online for Christmas'
Britain's Christmas shoppers are looking to cut costs by buying goods online through credit cards, egg said today.According to the credit card provider, four in five British consumers are planning to shop on the web for gifts and other festive items.The firm added that 60 per cent are passing up on the high street in order to resist the "urge to splurge" at the shops.Instead, many are looking to stick to a strict festive spending plan.The egg poll also found that 41 per cent of people believe that web shopping gives them extra "control" over their spending.Vanessa Wood, Spokesperson for egg, said: "Online shopping is increasingly popular. People see it as the best way to reign in their spending and resist the temptation to impulse buy."It is the ideal solution for those who find the Christmas crowds stressful."Popular online shopping sites running Christmas promotions include Amazon, ASOS.com and Net-a-Porter.
