Are we on the verge of changes in the UK education system?

Over the last few days there has been a lot of comment in the financial papers regarding the UK government budget deficit and potential savings in the short to medium term. One subject which seems to be on the tip of every tongue in the political arena is education and in particular the university system and how it is funded.

The CBI has today joined the party with a suggestion that students should be paying more towards their education after school age which would make a significant dent in the UK budget deficit. However, yet again it seems to be the middle classes who are in the firing line with a suggestion that those who can pay should pay more. But is this the right way to go?

There is no doubt that those who are wealthier should at least consider paying more towards services such as education but whether it is right to penalises people who have been successful in life is open to debate. Slowly but surely many business leaders believe that the UK government is restricting growth in the UK small business sector and indeed many people are now unsure as to whether they should even try and run their own businesses.
