Do you know your energy tariff?
As we start to see signs of potential falls in the price of gas and electricity many consumer associations are begging the UK population to review their energy tariffs as many have no idea what they are being charged. Massive variations across the energy sector and turmoil in the gas and electricity wholesale markets have potentially opened some interesting opportunities for those who have not yet switched supplier.
While the headlines may say that prices are on the way down, it is up to the consumer to check out the best rates in their area and make arrangements to switch when necessary. More and more people are finding it beneficial to move towards dual gas and electricity agreements although each element should be considered in its own right to ensure you are making the correct move.
It is noticeable that the UK authorities, in particular the UK government, have gone fairly quiet on the subject of energy tariffs lately even though they are still substantially higher than they were 12 months ago. The threat of a full-scale investigation into the energy sector seems to have diminished over the last few weeks with indications, albeit belatedly, that prices may well have peaked and should start to slip back in course.
