Is the UK stock market over the worst?

The UK stock market has for some time been treading water, awaiting news of a potential recovery in the UK economy and the wider worldwide economy. However, yesterday saw a significant increase in the markets buoyed by hopes for the future and an upward trend starting to emerge in America. But are we actually over the worst?

While there is no doubt that investors seem a little more confident over the last few days there are still many trials and tribulations in the days, months and years ahead. The American market, which has to some extent dragged the UK market higher, is very fickle and investors over in the US can turn on a sixpence either way. However, news that the RICS expect UK property prices to increase in the short-term could be taken as further evidence that the UK economy has at the worst stabilised and at best is looking to turn.

For those looking to invest in the UK stock market it is vital that professional advice is taken because while many prices have fallen substantially over the last 18 months this does not necessarily mean they are good value for the future. Any potential recovery in the UK stock market will not be evenly spread amongst the various sectors and caution is required as is professional investment advice.
