European Commission opens fraud investigation into trade minister

When EU trade minister Fritz-Harald Wenig decided to talk to a supposed Chinese businessman (really an undercover reporter) about top secret anti-dumping investigations and how these might impact upon a number of Chinese candle maker he could not have expected to become embroiled in a top level anti-fraud case. But that is exactly what has happened with the EU's very own anti-fraud department now investigating one of the EU's own employees.

While it would be wrong to go into the case in detail as there are possible legal proceedings outstanding it does highlight the growing power which the unelected EU has over world trade. This has always been the problem for many in the UK, the very fact that the power to make and break decisions about the UK can actually be made by unelected representatives.

The EU has also been accused of bully boy tactics over its treatment of Ireland after it rejected the EU Treaty - which was actually a rehashed version of an older treaty which again was rejected by EU nationals. It seems that those at the top of the EU are intent on making Europe a state in its own right with member countries nothing more than parts of the State.
