Pension fiasco hits the public sector
At a time when money has never been tighter in the UK it is believed that in excess of £100 million has been overpaid to a number of public sector workers over the last few years. It would appear that some 100,000 pension recipients have received in excess of their official pension payments for a number of years leaving a black hole of around £100 million. Some what do the government plan to do about this?
It has been revealed that the one hundred million pounds in excess payments will be written off and not reclaimed from pension recipients with many suggesting a political bias as we approach the next general election. Quite how this fiasco have been allowed to happen is a mystery as the Labour government have spent literally billions of pounds on new computerised systems for both taxes and pensions. So far taxpayers have seen very little if any return on their investment and are starting to lose patience with the situation.
This is not the first time such a fiasco has happened with many of the UK population involved in the tax credits fiasco which saw millions of people overcharged and millions of people receive lower payments than they were entitled to.
