More Errors at two of UK’s Largest Banks
Customers of two of the largest banks in the UK, NatWest and Nationwide, have experienced fresh problems with their bank accounts just weeks after major complications hit NatWest, Ulster bank and RBS.
The problem at NatWest is centred around their online banking system, while some debit card payments have also been effected. Meanwhile, 704,426 Nationwide customers faced a different issue, when money was taken from their account twice for certain transactions.
The building society has admitted full liability for the problem, announcing that a one-off human error was to blame. It has also stated that the problem was reversed within 24 hours, with accounts corrected overnight.
The problem with NatWest once again seems to be a technical issue, with debit card payments being turned down, and online banking working incorrectly. It will be particularly frustrating for customers of NatWest who will feel that two technical issues of such magnitude in one month is wholly unacceptable in this day and age.
Meanwhile Nationwide, who had previously said that the problems which affected the RBS group banks had increased new customer interest, now face suffering themselves as current customers become angered and potential new customer are put off.
