Has Vince Cable gone too far?

There is no doubt that Vince Cable has certainly put the UK banking arena back in the spotlight with a very emotional, controversial and in many cases truthful speech at the Liberal Democrat Party conference today. However, when you are business secretary for the coalition government should you really be using such emotive and demeaning words to describe the very people you're supposed to have a working relationship with?

Whether or not Vince Cable is correct in his assessment that "spivs" are still very evident in the UK financial arena is open to debate but perhaps this is what many people are thinking. So far David Cameron and his coalition colleagues have refused to intervene directly and comment upon Vince Cable's current crusade but surely this cannot go on forever?

There are many in the business arena furious and upset by comments apparently connected with Vince Cable at the Liberal Democrat party conference today. Quite how he will be able to sit at the other end of a table discussing the UK economy, and changes to the business arena, in the future is a tricky one. However, there is no doubt that he has reinvigorated those in the Liberal Democrat party who have long been opposed to the coalition set up.
