Kent man arrested on fake banknote charges

Colin Edgar, of Faversham, Kent has this weekend been arrested and charged with counterfeiting euro and sterling currency notes. It is believed that equipment which is capable of creating counterfeit money with a face value of millions of euros has been impounded by the authorities as investigations carry on regarding the find.

There is no doubt that counterfeit money is circulating in Europe and the UK with a significant increase in activity since the credit crunch grabbed hold of economies around the world. It is believed that a tipoff from a member of the public is behind the latest raid and police are urgently trying to find out who else was behind the scam.

The UK public and UK business arena have been warned on numerous occasions about fraud and counterfeit money over the last two years. Despite the fact we have seen a significant increase in prosecutions many believe we are only just scratching the surface of this very dangerous and very lucrative area of the criminal world. As money becomes tighter and tighter for the UK public, and UK businesses, opportunities to launder money and become involved in similar activities are now more commonplace than ever before.
