How Can The Public Influence The Cost Of Employing MPs?
Over the last couple of years there has been a growing debate about the cost of employing MPs in the UK and the massive expenses they are allowed to claim. As each and every sector of the UK public continue to struggle we are hearing more and more stories about massive expenses claims, MPs employing members of their own family and taking rental payment from the public purse to work from home.
While none of these actions are illegal under current legislation there is a growing call for some kind of reform, something to inject a little more accountability and common sense to the proceedings. But how can the public get involved and push the matter forward?
Even though there are a number of websites which cover the subject in detail and allow you to vote and have your say, MPs are taking no notice of none direct action. The only way forward is to actually tell your local MP that you are seriously considering who to vote for in the next election unless MPs are able to show some restraint going forward. The threat of losing their seat is something which will make them sit up and listen for they risk losing more annual contributions to their final salary pension schemes - something which again is out of the reach of many in the UK.
