Know your consumer rights and save money
The vast majority of us will at some stage either have taken on the services of a substandard provider or acquired a product which was below the level of quality we expected. However, it seems as though the vast majority of the UK population would rather put these issues down to bad luck and learn a lesson for the future. Too many people do not make full use of their consumer rights and are effectively spending money which they could have reclaimed on the original service or product.
In simple terms, the rights of the consumer are laid down in law in that if you are mis-sold a product or service or it is ultimately substandard then you are able to complain. If your complaint is not acted upon by the company in the correct manner then there are various regulatory authorities you can approach to get a definitive ruling on the issue. This covers everything from broadband to your weekly shop, from rogue traders to the servicing of your car. It is imperative that you use the regulatory and legal framework which is there to protect consumers because ultimately the UK population is "giving away" millions of pounds a year to substandard service providers and substandard retail product.
