Is Gordon Brown’s First Anniversary Set To Be His Last?

While he was once regarded as the champion of the people, the modern day Robin Hood, taking from the rich and helping the poor, Gordon Brown is no more the hero of the working classes. As the dust settles on a sharp downturn in the UK economy even the working classes who have supported the rise and rise of Mr Brown are starting to fall away in droves. His support within the party is at an all time low, his support from the British people is at an all time and after this weeks Henley by-election, the loss of the party’s deposit and positioned behind such leaders as the Green Party says it all.

Even though he is no longer Chancellor, Gordon Brown has been forced to defend a number of his decisions and actions when at the Treasury as taxes continue to rise and rise. There is no money left in the coffers, the economy is screeching to a halt and the cost of living has never been higher – even aside from the price of oil. Mr Brown really is in a mess......

Whether he can battle the storm clouds forming over Number 10 until the economy improves is anyone’s guess, but if he does manage to make it to the end of his current term it would go down as one of the greatest escapes of all time.
