Will China mark the end of the worldwide recession?
While all eyes have been on the US economy as the bellwether of the worldwide economy, many people have failed to appreciate and monitor the Chinese economy which has of late become as important to the worldwide economy as the US. China has seen many changes over the last 20 years and has become more a part of the worldwide trade market than at any other time in its history. As a consequence, the Chinese economy has become as vital an element of the UK economy as the US is.
The last few days have seen upbeat statements from UK banks, hopes that the property market has turned and more importantly there are signs that the Chinese economy is back on track. Many people believe that the Chinese economy has to some extent supported the worldwide economy, even when the US economy began to collapse, and without the support of the Chinese economy we would be in a worse situation than we are today.
Whether this is true or not is open to debate, but the fact is that China has a greater part than ever before to play in the worldwide economic turnaround.
