Alex Salmond told to concentrate on Scottish economy
While he has become something of a peoples champion in Scotland by bashing the English at every opportunity it seems that Alex Salmond needs to get down to the bread and butter business of saving the Scottish economy. He is being accused by opposition parties of not acting quickly enough to safeguard up to 100,000 construction jobs in Scotland and being blinded by his controversial plans to fund schools, etc in the future.
Alex Salmond has introduce a new system called the Scottish Future Trust (SFT) to cover public spending in the future but even his ministers have confirmed that the first schools project will not get the go-ahead until next year at the earliest. There are fears that this will leave up to 100,000 construction work jobs at risk unless the government reverts back the old PPP initiatives which saw public and private sector co-operation on expensive public service projects.
For the first time in his career as Scottish leader it seems as though Alex Salmond is actually starting to feel the heat with opposition parties having regrouped and moved back onto the attack. How will the man with the silver tongue get out of this one?
