MPs gather round to slate UK business leaders

Yet again we have seen significant spin and suggestions pouring out of the Houses of Parliament as the UK government looks to deflect any criticism with regards to the performance of the UK economy. On one hand the government is adamant that the situation was American-born and is the fault of the US government while on the other, former key members of the UK banking sector such as Sir Fred Goodwin are ridiculed and pummelled in the press as hate figures for the UK population.

So we are led to believe that the UK authorities played no part in the demise of the UK economy and the massive increase in unemployment numbers. This comes at a time when MPs from all parties have been attempting to feather their own nests by protecting their significant expenditure allowances, pension pots and wages. So while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet it seems that the MPs of today are further out of touch with the UK population than at any time in the recent past.

Gordon Brown in particular has so far managed to deflect significant criticism of his time at the Treasury and his time as Prime Minister but many believe that "chickens will come home to roost" when the UK election is announced in 2010.
