David Cameron suggests different approach to the energy market

The energy market has been in the headlines of late with energy prices under close scrutiny and profits within the sector hitting an all-time high. However, David Cameron, leader of the Conservative party, has today suggested a different approach to the energy market in line with the Californian strategy of allowing energy customers to see the energy bills of their neighbours. So how will this work?

The idea is that by comparing your own energy bills with your neighbour this could give homeowners the incentive to be more careful with their energy use with reachable examples of savings when looking at their neighbourhood average. While this will do little to impact upon the cost of energy in the UK, and the fact that many people believe energy price reductions are not being passed on, it will give UK energy users an example of potential savings which they can make.

This is all part of the Conservative party's more hands-on approach to social issues with UK voters being promised more and more say in a variety of different areas. Whether this will be enough to swing undecided voters in favour of the Conservative party remains to be seen.
