Another day another gift for the Tories
On a day when European Commission has severely criticised the UK government with regards to plans to reduce the UK budget deficit and replenish government finances, the ongoing fight between British Airways and Unite union is also grabbing the headlines. It would appear that the Labour Party and Unite union, very closely linked in political and financial terms, are undergoing something of a damage limitation exercise with public criticism from Gordon Brown which many believe is only "lip service".
Like the European Commission criticism of the UK government, the close link between Unite union and Gordon Brown's party is an opportunity for David Cameron to make hay while the sun shines. The main problem for David Cameron appears to be the fact that many believe the recent Tory party lead in the polls was down to Gordon Brown's incompetence rather than Conservative party policies. Now that David Cameron is also on the back foot he needs to push home the difference between the Conservative party and the Labour Party and, as Gordon Brown has done, make voters sit up and listen to his criticisms of the government.
We are now in relatively new territory for David Cameron and the Tory party and the next couple of weeks could be vital to the outcome of the next general election.
