How long before David Cameron reveals his own tax policies for the future?

As the political fallout from Alistair Darling's latest budget continues, in the background there is a growing call for David Cameron to reveal his own tax policies for the future in greater detail. While, quite rightly, David Cameron has so far refused to reveal details of his financial policies, should the Tory party gain power next year, now may be the time to at least start feeding ideas and changes to the public.

There is no doubt that public spending cuts are high on the agenda as are income tax cuts as and when the UK economy can accommodate these. However, it will not be too long before UK voters are demanding more detail so they know exactly what they need to consider ahead of the general election in 2010. So far David Cameron has ignored the pressure for more financial detail but this cannot last forever.

There is no doubt that as we roll towards the next general election the issues of public spending and income tax will take centre spot. The Tories are looking to reduce income tax and public spending to give consumers more to spend on the high street and in business while the Labour Party is happy to increase public spending, creating many jobs, while taxing those at the upper end of the income scale. This could well be a battle royal!
