Rolls-Royce to create 150 new jobs
At a time when the UK luxury car market is struggling it has been announced that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will be creating a further 150 jobs as the success of the new Ghost line continues. Despite the fact that luxury car makers such as Bentley and Aston Martin have been cutting back their workforce there seems to be something of an upbeat tone at Rolls-Royce which has been helped by the fall in sterling over the last few months.
When you consider the forthcoming 50% increase in the workforce and the fact that the overall workforce has doubled over the last two years there is no doubt the company is doing something right. The UK car market in general is literally on its knees with reduced manufacturing, forced holidays, wage reductions and redundancies across the board. Rolls-Royce is a name with a history which few can match and one which has changed hands on a number of occasions over the last few years. However, after a period of relative uncertainty it looks as though the company is back on its feet and moving forward even in these difficult times.
Perhaps the UK car manufacturing sector is not dead and buried?
